My Hogwarts Letter

Yes, I did get it.
I got my acceptance letter after a whole year of waiting.
And I honestly still can't believe it.

 Nadia,

After interviewing you, Peter and I, were both of the opinion that you are exactly the type of agent we want to have on our team. We talked to your supervisors and since they already staffed for next week, if you accept our offer to work for the collaboration team you would start on Monday July 12th.  Please reply with either your acceptance or denial of the offer.

In my interview, I was asked this question.
--Note: I'm paraphrasing--

"I know you and Sam have a good friendship. Do you think that would keep you from working well?"
"Yea, I'm friends with Sam... and Spencer--I'll just throw him in there. But I was friends with them before the GSD was reorganized and they were my supervisors and I still was a good agent. I was Employee of the Week a couple times. I like to have friends, I'm not gonna lie, but I think that doesn't keep me from working well."

I rocked it, didn't I?
I could die today and I would die happy.
I finally did it.
I finally got it.
It's your fault International Team for never making me second level.
Arrivederci.
I'm on my way of becoming a wizard.

12 days to go!

My Co-workers' Moments

Working nights in the International Team can be fun.
No one's around.
We're about 6 or 7 people in a call center that usually has at least 50 agents at a time.
So we do what we want.
Homework, socialize, you name it.
Even music.

Moment 1:

So this one agent's playing Single Ladies.
A supervisor comes out because he hears the music.
Awkward silence.
The supervisor is staring at the agent.

Agent 1: O, is it too loud? People seem to be enjoying it. I'm just saying.

The other agents laugh quietly.

Moment 2:

Agent 2 (on the phone): --Mute-- I'm having a hard time not laughing at this guy's name. --Unmute-- Brother Bobo?

Moment 3:

Agent 2 (to me): Nadia, wanna hear a story? So there's this girl that wrote me all the time while I was in Brazil and when I came back she wanted to date me and I was like "No, it's not gonna happen." So she got mad and made out with a random guy and she got mono.

Moment 4:

Agent 2: What's your name?
Agent 3: Brendan. What's yours?
Agent 2: Rob.
Me: You don't wanna know that.
Agent 3: I don't?
Me: Rob's an awful person.
Agent 2: Brendan, all we do here at the GSD is make fun of Nadia, because in the World Cup every team she picks, loses.

Moment 5:

Agent 4: Nadia, are you from Portugal?
Me: No.
Agent 4: Then why are you rooting for Portugal?
Agent 2: Because they're gonna lose.

Moment 6:

Agent 4: Nadia, you know Santana wrote a song about you?
Me: Really?
Agent 4: Yea, it says "no tengo nadia"

My Proud Incident X (PIX)

I thought working Friday nights would be a breeze.
Who calls on a Friday night, really?
Well tonight, apparently A WHOLE LOT of people.
This one call was super long.
1:47:28
Yea. That long.
Everything that could have gone wrong did.
That only happens to me.
Which is why I got a ticket yesterday.
Just when I decide to speed up a little.
Which I, honestly, never do!
Anyway,
Back to my story about this Internet problem.
I don't know how the Connectivity people do it every day.
But...
I'm not gonna deny it...
I felt so tech-savvy after I got to select the Resolved Status.

And just for fun, I copied what I put in the ticket for your amusement.

Brother Espana called back. I told him to connect the pix to the computer with the console cable and the modem directly to the computer.

CCN ID: 399302
DG: 10.140.17.1

AP MAC Address 001563e50421

Used hyperterminal to activate the pix. For some reason I couldn't ping the pix, so I decided to release and renew the IP address and see if that did anything.

Still no reply from the pix.

I told him to reboot all the devices and then I noticed I could telnet the pix from his computer but not mine. So I did everything from his end. I got the IP of the Pix and also the ip of the AP. I had a hard time finding the config file for his AP because some information was blank on the CCN database so I had to add all of it. I finally was able to save the config file and added the SSID for LDS Access.

User disconnected the ethernet cable and rebooted his machine to make sure the wireless connection was still working.

It says it's connected and it says he has excellent signal but he can't get to the internet. It turns out he was trying to connect to moroni through Odyssey.

I told him to disable Odyssey and to connect to LDS Access.

Fingers crossed.

It asked him for the password but for some reason when I gave it to him, it wouldn't take it. (Talk about frustrating, really!)

It finally took it!

Happy ending to this super long call!

Heck yea.
I did put all of those little side notes in the ticket.
Because I am that cool.

My Typical Day at Work

I love my job...
...sometimes...

Two of the things that have to always be open at work:
Remedy and Facebook.

Watching Paraguay v. New Zealand

This is how I work

Collaboration: My Hogwarts, too bad I never got my letter.

Spencer's silly self--which is why we're friends!

Spencer again making a funny face.

Apparently Sam didn't want to have his picture taken.
Or he was working.

That looks more like Customer Service.

I think Spencer has the coolest name ever.

Denisse finally let me take her picture.

And just for kicks,
Remember:
"Nothing in this world that's worth having comes easy"

My World Cup Team

This is all I need to say.

Yeah, Portugal!
7-0 that's what I'm talking about!

One of my friends said it perfectly:

Mitchell Hadley
Yeah!!! Portugal all the way!!! I watched the game and they look good. You have to feel bad for N. Korea though. They got worked.

Amen people.
Amen.

My Favorite Soccer Player

With no doubt, Steven Gerrard.
He's great.
Yea, England's not doing as great as it should.
But the Algerian goalie was really good.
Props to him.
But Gerrard knows his way on the field,
with a soccer ball...

And he's a hottie.

O... and I passed American Heritage.
Heck to the yea!

My World Cup

It hurts me to the bone that not a lot of people are into soccer here.
Choosing to watch the NBA Finals over the World Cup?
Are you people for real?

James and I were talking about that yesterday in Econ class.
He said I should come over and watch the World Cup with him and his roommates.
Which means I'll have some people to yell with
Because of this very important event
That only happens every four years.
I'm soooo going.
Yelling by yourself is not that much fun.
Losing your voice because of it is really cool though.
I should know.

James and I are both rooting for Germany.
After that game against Australia those Germans made it to my top three.
England is my first choice though.
I don't think they'll win but I can dream, right?

More people NEED to be into the World Cup.
Not to mention some of those soccer players are super fine.
Yes, I'm a girl, I HAD to say that.

I promise this won't be the last World-Cup-related post there will be.
So you've been warned.

Enjoy my favorites.

Stuart Holden - USA

Yoann Gourcuff - France

Steven Gerrard - England

Cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal

Philipp Lahm - Germany

Holger Badstuber - Germany

My Sundays

I've never been a big fan of Sundays. I love going to church but after that, I come home and I'm totally bored. I'm really unproductive on Sundays after church. Like, right now, I am super bored and I'm doing absolutely nothing and maybe refraining myself from doing something that would turn this situation around--but that's 'cause I'm a big wimp. Yea.

Sundays are so boring after church.

My pre-ADHD Med post

I went to see Dr. Bunn this morning.
He gave me Methylin.
Wanna know what that is?

Methylphenidate is a central nervous system stimulant. It affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control.
It is used to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and narcolepsy.

So, yea.
I have ADHD, so that's why I need them.
I pretty much cried to Dr. Bunn so he would give me the pills.
He didn't want to.

See, I have some other things going on with my health which scared him.
The pills are risky for anyone who takes them, whether they're healthy or not.
Well, they are riskier for me.
And when I say risky, I don't mean drowsiness or headaches.
Or even weight loss...
--which is a side effect I'm actually excited about
I didn't tell that to Dr. Bunn though
Then he really wouldn't have given me jack--

I mean risky as in death-risky
Methylin is a stimulant
It increases heart rate and blood pressure
And if not taken properly
It could cause a heart attack, a stroke
Or sudden death.
So this is serious.
And I know it.
Dr. Bunn made me get an EKG to verify my heart rate was normal.
And it was.
But he had me give my word before giving me the pills.

Dr. Bunn trusted me.
He made me promise I won't do some things
That I have problems with.
And I promised.
And my word is binding.
So this is my pre-med post
I'm about to take my first dose.
I'm nervous.
I'll let you know how it feels.

Catch you on the flip side!

My Married Best Friend part 2

Ok, so I just need to say it. Spencer is awesome! He's like the brother I never had. He listens to everything I say--every little rant and every little story--and usually makes me feel better. No married guy would wanna hear about my life and be ready to give me advice. That's why Spencer is Awesome--with a capital A.

I just wanted to check on you and make sure you’re doing okay. So if you check this any time soon let me know if you’re okay. And remember, you can talk to me.

I know this the second Spencer-related post in less than a month but you have to count your blessings and the little things always meant lots to me, still do. So I know you don't read this, Spencer, but thank you, you're the best married friend without a kid I have ever had! I know that if Sam and I were in the same team, he would have some thank you posts too--that's why I specified without a kid.

My Update

So...
I have ADHD, the inattentive type.
Yea.
Talk about having things wrong with me.

I hate American Heritage.
No matter how much I study I still do awful.
And it's lowing my self-esteem.

I never do so bad in school.
I'm scared.
I think I actually might fail.
Fail my first class at BYU.
And will have to retake it.
Because otherwise I won't graduate.

I hate this.
