My Book To Add

Today at work I talked to an Elder Smith,
since we were installing IE7 and his computer was slow
it was taking longer than usual.
And he was and old fellow...
you know how those calls can go..
"Where can I find the programs?"
"What does this mean?"
"Address bar?"

Anyway he was really nice.
He won me over when he said how good my English is.
I'm a sucker for those comments.
He asked me why I was in the US.
Asked if I had married someone here?
I scoffed.
Married?
Not in this life, pal.

Anyhoo...
He asked me what my major was and what I wanted to do.
I told him I wanted to be a writer.
That's my dream.
Fans. Fame. Money.
I need to start working on Bassville again.
So he said his son's a writer.
His name is Obert Skye.
Well that's his pen name.
His real name is Robert Smith.
And he told me he wrote Leven Thumps.
This guy had no college education.
He had talent.
Wrote tons of books and has a movie coming out.

Talk about success.
I want that.
More than anything in the world right now.

A book!
A movie!
It's a fantasy...

I'll have to check it out.

My Naturally Blond Shadowhunter

I'm in love again.
With a fictional character... again.
His name is Jace Wayland.

Book - The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
Author - Cassandra Clare

I should not do internet research on these series before I'm done reading all three of them that are out! I had to ruin my reading by finding out Simon will be a vampire and that Alec is gay!

I have to finish those books soon!
--- Way better than the stupid Twilight saga... O wait! Everything's better than Twilight.

Keep drooling over Edward. I'll have Jace! <3

My 5-Minute-Break

I fail as a reader! I haven't read any of the new books I bought! I'm awful.

My excuse: School's kicking my trash. I have my Brit Lit 2nd Midterm tomorrow and I'm not ready. I decided to be social last night instead of studying. O silly me. I had fun last night tho.

I'm taking a break from studying right now. Which shouldn't be too hard to do since I'm alone at the apt. But no. I just can't study.

This is the new love of my life.

O, Unisom Cherry Flavor.
Thou hast saved me from nights of insomnia.
Thou hast brought me peace and rest.
Thou art truly my best friend.

My Lock & Key

I bought four new books. I've been craving some new adventures for a while now. The one I'm most excited about reading is "Lock & Key" by Sarah Dessen. We'll see how that goes.

My Matthew Shepard Story

On October 6, 1998 Matthew Shepard was attacked by Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson in Laramie, WY. Matt Shepard was a 21-year-old UW student who happened to be gay. He was beaten up with the butt of McKinney's gun, tied up to a fence and left for dead. He was found 18 hours later and he was in a coma. He remained in the coma for 6 days and finally died on October 12 in a hospital in Fort Collins, CO.

I bought the book Judy Shepard (Matthew's mom) wrote called The Meaning of Matthew: My Son's Murder in Laramie and a World Transformed and read it all in only a day and it already made its way to my favorite books list. It's a great book.

I have done so much research on the Matthew Shepard case, and believe it or not Mormons are mentioned a lot in it. The doctor that treated Matthew in Colorado graduated from BYU. The Senator that approved and supported the Matthew Shepard act was a Mormon, and not too good but still Mormon related, Russell Henderson was a Mormon. He was inactive and obviously got excommunicated from the Church after Shepard's murder.

Both McKinney and Henderson are serving life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Judy Shepard is now an activist fighting for gay rights.

What is my say on the matter? I believe gay people are still people and should get every right that straight people have. I do not agree with gay marriage though, when I say rights, I mean every right stated in the US Constitution.

How has this affected my life? I want to go to Law School. One of my goals is to take the LSAT this year.

Finals Week is when I read everything but class material

I just really like this quote

"It was something to hope for.
And something to torture himself over."

Very true. And you'd never guess which book I got it from.
