My Writing Reward

I wrote a short story for my Writing Fiction class. Those classes intimidate me. Mainly because your classmates read your work and critique it. Constructive criticism or not, it's always hard for a writer to get bad reviews because you grow so attached to your work. It's your own personal baby. It came out of you and you don't want anybody to hurt it. But you have to let it go out there and gain experience... live on its own. If that makes any sense...

This is why reading stuff like this triggers something inside you... and you can't help but smile.

My New Real Life Obsession

After I finished watching Dexter, I thought I wouldn't find a new obsession. Kim tried to get me into Firefly, and even though I don't mind watching it, I don't love it. Britt told me I could watch Glee, I'm still working on it. I've only seen the first episode. It looks promising, so we'll see how that goes.

I have found a new rewarding obsession, though, called Britt & Kyle. I just can't get enough of them. I have created a new folder on iPhoto that is only for all the pictures I'll take of them before they get married and Britt moves out.

Aren't they precious? I'm in love with them. They are so cute. They're my favorite. I really am gonna miss them once they're gone. :(

And then there's this one. Me ampayaron! At least Kyle did...
Ampayar (v.) - When you catch a person doing something compromising.
Ampay (n.) - The fact of getting caught or catching someone doing something compromising.
Kyle and Britt must be thinking I'm the weirdest most random roommate Britt's ever had. No, probably not. I mean I'm a tiny bit weird, but I know Kyle and Britt love me, and it feels great. I just think that when you see something truly beautiful, you just have to remember it forever. And I will keep their pictures forever...

Because Britt, Kim and Kyle are the best roommates I've ever had... lol, Kyle is family. He just doesn't sleep over, but he makes food for us sometimes! Great food too!

And Britt got me into the habit of going to bed early, which has helped me a lot.

On another note and since these are the people in my life... this is Nate Montgomery, my best American Single Guy Friend! - Spencer Brady and Sam Stewart are two of my male best friends that are married.

And this is my all-time best friend et vice versailles, Paul Cabranes. He came to visit me because I've been sick the whole week and am now recovering. We took so many pictures before we both were satisfied with one... and tomorrow we'll continue - just because I said so. So this is us. Not as great looking as Britt & Kyle, but we try.

My Random Notes

This is true.

I'm in bed. Sick. I feel like crap. No idea what's going on either. My mom says it's my poor nutrition. I eat, I promise. I just don't eat healthy enough, so she says I'm lacking vitamins. Note to self: Buy Multi Vitamins Supplement.

Oh, college. And the life of a college student that thinks she can handle 15 credits, 20 hours of work, 4 hours of daily reading and 2 hours of daily writing give or take-- plus a social life and at least a daily hour of Dexter. Too much for one tiny person like me.

But... things like these make me happy.

I know I'm obsessed with Britt and Kyle, but they're just lovely together...

Nice notes I received from guys in my ward. That made me happy too. I need to send some next week.

My Hunting Season

I'm seriously thinking it's marriage season or something. I'd need more than my two hands to count how many people that I know are engaged or have just gotten married.

My favorite though, are these two.

Meet Kyle and Britt. They are precious. I'm super excited I got to take a picture of them. Britt's my roommate and Kyle is her fiance--obviously. They're getting married on May 6th! I love them. Britt's great and beautiful and Kyle's super nice and funny. They are the perfect couple.

P.S. They know I'm posting this picture of them, so I'm not being creepy--at least not without their consent.

My New Signature Word Would Be Funny If It Weren't Bad

So I've finished Dexter. Actually I finished it this morning at 5 am. I cried a little with the ending of season 4. It was crazy. Crazy Awesome. Dexter is def the most awesome show ever. I'm obsessed with it. Just ask my roommates. I bought seasons 1, 2 and 3 today, didn't buy 4 because it's not out yet, but season 4 is definitely my favorite. I can't wait for season 5 to start airing in September. It seems so far away!

In other news, I'm officially a Business minor, and I get to graduate next April. I can't believe I'm almost done with school. When my parents come here and see me walking wearing my cap and gown, they'll know their sacrifice was worth it. Because I'll be somebody. Not just Nadia Reategui, but Nadia Reategui, BYU graduate student - which sounds so much better than just boring old me.

Heck yea, my parents will be proud of me. About time I did something to show them they raised me right.

Speaking of parents, 22 years ago, my mom married my dad in the Lima Peru Temple and 8 months later, on September 22nd, along came Nadia.

September's a great month.

O, I guess you wanna know what my signature word is... Sorry can't say, after all, my blog is rated PG-13.

Yea, right.

My "Do not read if you're easily disturbed"

WARNING: The following ideas might disturb some readers.

I'm warning you. Twice.

Three times.

Ok, you wanna keep reading. But...

Please keep in mind I tend to be dramatic. I'm a writer. Yeah, like that's an excuse for everything... but it kind of is.

So... enjoy. Ironic, ain't it?

See this?

This is my new obsession. I'm pretty fond of TV shows, anything that takes you away from reality, to be honest, that's why I like books. I watch Scrubs, Desperate Housewives, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Gossip Girl... at least, those are current shows that I've watched entirely and continue to follow.

My latest addition to that huge list includes the most amazing show ever, at least for me, since I'm the kind of person that likes creepy stuff that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I just finished Season 1 and it's been a remarkable experience.

If you just googled it or followed my link to know what the fuss is about, now you might be like wtf... I accept I'm sort of messed up and might need therapy after catching up on all of the seasons that are out. But hey, it's not like I don't need therapy now. I'm freaking out already... and loving every minute of it.

I told you I was messed up.

Oooo. I'm good.

My Circus Tiger

There's money lenders inside the temple
That circus tiger's gonna break your heart
Something so wild turned into paper
If I loved you, well, that's my fault.

There's money lenders inside the temple
This crystal city's gonna fall apart
When all their power turns into vapor
If I miss you, well, that's my fault.

I have realized that I'm a little drama queen. Okay, I knew that already. But my life's like a rollercoaster and I'm in the middle of my own circus, and there's a tiger that I haven't been able to tame. But it's the most beautiful tiger of all time. And I want it to eat me.

Bear with me. I'm a writer.

O, I just got done with my first week of school. I'm loving my classes so far though there's a humongous amount of reading to do. It's crazy. I'm going to bed at 11 and I'm reading all day. No TV at all. I'm impressed.

Today at work, I activated my 2 first firewalls EVER!! I don't know why but I'm hecka excited about that. Sometimes I think I'm a geek.

--- Edit

As a true geek, I have started the list with the names I want for my kids. Please see the sidebar. If you wanna comment on how silly I am, feel free to do it too. :)

My Matthew Shepard Story

On October 6, 1998 Matthew Shepard was attacked by Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson in Laramie, WY. Matt Shepard was a 21-year-old UW student who happened to be gay. He was beaten up with the butt of McKinney's gun, tied up to a fence and left for dead. He was found 18 hours later and he was in a coma. He remained in the coma for 6 days and finally died on October 12 in a hospital in Fort Collins, CO.

I bought the book Judy Shepard (Matthew's mom) wrote called The Meaning of Matthew: My Son's Murder in Laramie and a World Transformed and read it all in only a day and it already made its way to my favorite books list. It's a great book.

I have done so much research on the Matthew Shepard case, and believe it or not Mormons are mentioned a lot in it. The doctor that treated Matthew in Colorado graduated from BYU. The Senator that approved and supported the Matthew Shepard act was a Mormon, and not too good but still Mormon related, Russell Henderson was a Mormon. He was inactive and obviously got excommunicated from the Church after Shepard's murder.

Both McKinney and Henderson are serving life sentences without the possibility of parole.

Judy Shepard is now an activist fighting for gay rights.

What is my say on the matter? I believe gay people are still people and should get every right that straight people have. I do not agree with gay marriage though, when I say rights, I mean every right stated in the US Constitution.

How has this affected my life? I want to go to Law School. One of my goals is to take the LSAT this year.
